Whoa What a Trip!

Hey Everyone,

The trip was so packed with stuff to do that I have not had a chance to get anything posted. I am in London now and have a few more days here. When I get back, and have my own computer I will post a summary of the trip, but for now I am going to spend some more time seeing some amazing sights!

Done in Ireland

Hey Guys,

I just got into London not too long ago, tomorrow I have a meeting for my Contiki trip and then head out on the road again on Wednesday. The last part of Ireland was the best by far. I saw some very amazing sights, a sheep dog at work, where my family comes from, etc.

Today I left my parents at the London airport and will be beginning the Contiki portion next. I am really excited for this next part of the trip. I still don't have a way to upload my pictures for under twenty dollars so you will have to wait, sorry.

I am sure I will be on more tomorrow or in the next few days.

Northern Ireland

Yesterday we got a rental car and headed north out of Dublin. Our first stop was Newgrange, a famous passage tomb built roughly 5,000 years ago (on the World Heritage List). We then continued on to Monasterboice. It was kind of cool seeing these old things, nothing like the USA. We then continued on to Belfast, in Northern Ireland, not a particulairily happy place at all! We took a tour of the city and then had dinner with Conor, a friend of the family from Ireland that works as a guide here.

Today we headed out of Belfast and hit a castle on the way out of town and then on to Carrick-A-Rede, an old rope bridge out on a point into the ocean, a lot of great views and pictures here. After the rope bridge we went to another World Heritage listing, the Giant's Causeway. Here the rocks have formed into hexagonal shapes. The whole day we were driving on one of the most scenic roads I have ever been on, don't worry I have lots of pictures, but still unable to upload at this time. Tonight we arrived in Londonderry, over on the Northwest side of Ireland.

Tomorrow will be another full day of travelling and site seeing along the way, we are pretty much doing a loop around the entire country and seeing all the hot spots along the way.

Until next time!

A full day of Dublin

Today was a busy day! We visited the Trinity college, where my dad went to college for a year, and saw the book of Kells (a book written early in the 9th century by monks), then we went to a prison that was instrumental to Ireland gaining their Independence, St. Patrick's Cathedral, the Guinness Brewery, and then Dublin Castle! Then we had dinner and headed back to the hotel. Tomorrow we are renting a car and will be driving around the rest of Ireland for the majority of the rest of the trip. Nothing else to report, still no ability to upload photos, so the suspense is building!

The flights are over and the first night in Dublin

Hello Everyone!

Well it took a long time but we are finally here in Dublin. Our flight out of MSP was 1.5 hours late and the flight out of Newark was almost 3 hours late. Once we got into London we had some free time but everyone was too tired so we just hung out in the airport before our last flight to Dublin.

Now that we are here, we were met by a friend of my parents from past trips who showed us around Dublin and got us checked into our hotel. After a short time to freshen up after a day of travelling we met back up to walk around the hot spots in Dublin. We met to a Irish bar, and it was a blast. So far I have had Guinness, Kilkenny, Carlsberg, and Smithwicks, more to come!

Our hotel is very nice, but the computer I am on only allows for Internet use, so I can't put any pictures up yet.

A fun saying I came across:
"God created alcohol to stop the Irish from ruling the world"

I will try to keep the updates coming, I miss everyone!

I'm leaving in less than 24 hours!

Hey everyone,

I am in the middle of packing my bags to head out. We fly out tomorrow morning for London and then on to Ireland. I am not sure how much I will be able to update while I am Ireland but when I get back to London for my Contiki trip I will for sure be able to share some stories and post some pictures. Until then.

First Post

Hello Everyone,

I am going to be posting on this site during my month in Europe. I am not sure how much time I will have to update it, but I am going to try to get to it every couple days to share some pictures and stories. If nothing else I will finish the blog when I get home so people can view the story and pictures from my trip.
